Leukopenia (also known as leukocytopenia, or leucopenia) is a decrease in the number of white blood cells (leukocytes) found in the blood, which places individuals at increased risk of infection. Neutropenia, a subtype of leukopenia, refers to a decrease in the number of circulating neutrophil granulocytes, the most abundant white blood cells. The terms leukopenia and neutropenia may occasionally be used interchangeably, as the neutrophil count is the most important indicator of infection risk.
Low white cell count may be due to a recent infection such as a cold or influenza. It can be associated with chemotherapy, radiation therapy, myelofibrosis and aplastic anemia (failure of white cell, red cell & platelet production). HIV and AIDS are also a threat to white cells.  So, researchers from China investigated the immunomodulatory effect against cyclophosphamide-inducedleucopenia in rat,
Immunomodulatory effect studies indicated that tremella polysaccharides increased the counts of leukocytes in the peripheral blood which were significantly lowered by cyclophosphamide, and the lower the molecular mass of the tremella polysaccharide, the better this effect was. for more information follow us www.facebook.com/mashmushroom or +(66)8-1829-6100, +(66)8-1696-5649
